A quaint little hill station tucked away in the Western Ghats, Ponmudi is at an altitude of 1100 ft. above sea level. The enchanting beauty of nature can be witnessed here in the quite surroundings. Munnar is situated at a distance of 70 km from Idukki is 1600 meter above the sea level. This hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town. Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. Among the exotic flora found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji. This flower which bathes the hills in blue every twelve years, will bloom next in 2006 AD. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi, which towers over 2695 m. Anamudi is an ideal spot for trekking. The nature-lover’s paradise. Snuggling in the green and serene Kannan Devan Hills, lies the quite and restful resort of Munnar, at an altitude of 1524 m and 136 km off Cochin.

Situated on the northeastern side of the district and spread over an area of 827 kms, has the largest tribal settlement. Located 38 kms from Mannakkad, the place consists of mostly hilly highland terrain, fed by the tributaries of the river Cauvery. An extensive mountain valley above the crest of the ghat ranges with numerous rivulets of the Bhavani river.

Situated at 16 km southwest of Munnar this picturesque location offers a unique feature - clusters of slender red and blue gum trees. This gorgeous hill station symbolizes nature in her pristine glory. The crisp and cool mountain air heavily laden with the fragrance of wild flowers and rare herbs in any nature's lover's paradise.  According to the legend the Sita Devi, the holy consort of Lord Rama, came down to frolic in the lake and the place came to be spoken about as Devikulam, ever since.
